[vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Historical Overview”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”1452″ img_size=”full” alignment=”right”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]Tenuta Colombarda dates back to the second half of the nineteenth century, and is located in the hills north of Cesena, close to Bertinoro, between Paderno and San Vittore. Currently, it includes three properties for a total of over twenty-six hectares (64 acres) of vineyards, olive groves and woods. The nineteen hectares (forty-seven acres) of vineyards follow DOP Romagna (Protected Designation of Origin) guidelines and face mostly south and southwest, making for quality grapes with a good yield (90-100 quintals\/hectare), also thanks to clay and tuff soil and a high vine density.<\/p>\n

In the Forties, thanks to Ca. Aldo Domeniconi (pro-tempore owner of the family company), the winery was created so they could personally vinify the grapes the family raised.<\/p>\n

As time passed, the initial equipment was slowly replaced with more modern machines: the resulting wine was intended as a combination of technology and tradition, giving the consumer a healthy, genuine and high-quality product.<\/p>\n

In this regard, Tenuta Colombarda has for many years been part of a small, select group of Italian companies that participate in the \u201cDu Pont Global Quality Project.\u201d It is a multi-year commitment aimed at monitoring and limiting pesticide usage in the vineyards, followed by strict testing (certified by public laboratories) for the possible chemical residue left in the wines released to the consumer.<\/p>\n

Over the last ten years, special attention has been given to converting abandoned, run-down hilly terrain to arable land thus \u201crescuing\u201d it from erosion and using, among other things, important irrigation and farming systems. Currently, direct descendants of Cavalier Domeniconi \u2013 the Dionigi and Agostini families \u2013 own Tenuta Colombarda.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
